Lion Head Mountain (獅頭山) is a famous mountain of Buddhism in Taiwan. Quanhua Hall (勸化堂) is not only the temple of Lion Head Mountain that has the richest resources, but also one of the opening temples. The main body of Quanhua Hall is built leaning the mountains, making full use of the existing caves to inlay partial buildings into the cliffs. It therefore presents a grand scale and view. Decorations like stone carvings, wood carvings and paintings add more grandeur to the hall. Ziyang Gate (紫陽門) serves as the most important relic for the hall, which is also the unavoidable path to climb the mountain. The roof is in the structure of hip roof independent archway. Inside it enshrines Lord Guanyu, Confucius, and Avalokitesvara, with year-long incense encircling.
“Kangji Suspension Bridge” (康濟橋), built in 1953 with a length of 58m and width of 4m, serves as an important thoroughfare for forestry and mining industry in Donghe (東河), Penglai (蓬萊) and Nanjing (南江) areas. Later in 1959 it was destroyed by flood, and hence Nanzhuang Bridge was built to replace it. Then on June 22nd, 1998, Kangji Suspension Bridge was built in parallel to Nanjing Bridge. On December 23rd of the same year, it was completed. It is 154m in length, and 1.5m in width, connecting Nanzhuang Old Street (南莊老街) and Nanjiang Old Street (南江老街). Walking on the bridge, you can see the mountain city sights and river landscape, hence becoming one of the famous scenic spots of Nanzhuang (南莊).
The main entrance of the walkway is located at the farm village of Tongjing (銅鏡村), where you can see the welcome of statues of lovely praying mantis, dragonflies, butterflies. Following the signs, you will see not only enchanting and refreshing water scenery but also wave of Dalonggang Lake (大龍崗湖). Especially at the season of Tung tree flowering, the elegant white will make you enchanted. The slope is moderate with a length of 1.5km. Along the way, there are viewing platforms, pavilions, and seats for tourists, so it is suitable for families.
At the Laoqi (老崎) red soil hill to the northeast of Toufen City (頭份市), there is hidden an undeveloped virgin land. Here, there are tea gardens, shady maples and singing pines as well as lovesick lanes and rest walkways combined with natural beauty, not to mention the bird and cicada chirping mixed with natural music.
In summer, the Tung tree flowers will cover the ground like white snow. With rotation of seasons, yellow flowers, pomelo flowers and pear flowers will come onto stage one after another; accompanied by the visiting steps of tourists, the riot and charm plus the enchanting fragrance will shock the tourists. This isolated land is called by us, “Backyard Garden of Toufen” (頭份後花園).
