Haomei TaiSheng Temple: Standing on Haomei, the Mazu statue was constructed during the Ming Dynasty. After being examined by experts, it was certified as a precious cultural artifact, and one that also provides evidence that immigrants were sailing across the Taiwan Strait at the time. Haomei was formerly a fishing port of south Chiayi. Before sailing out to sea, fishermen used to pray to the sea goddess Mazu at TaiSheng Temple, asking for her blessing. It remains a local religious center to this day. 3D Color Painting: Haomei Outdoor Art Gallery was the first village in Taiwan in which houses were decorated with 3D paintings. All the paintings are themed on fishing village culture. Visitors are free to take pictures there and create their own memorable images of this former fishing village.
