Guidelines for carrying folding bikes on the bus:
1. Carrying folding bikes on the bus is allowed.
2. Please observe the following rules when carrying folding bikes:
(1) You should put the folding bike in a bike bag.
(2)Put it in the luggage compartment for free.
(3)When putting your folding bike on a seat, you need to pay half fare for it.

Concession tickets guidelines:
1. There are full tickets and half tickets. All day return tickets are offered at discount prices already. Apologize for no further discount.
2. Half tickets are available to:
household registrations outside Chiayi County、Chiayi City,Senior citizens at the age of 65 or above, with ROC ID cards or Senior Citizen Cards
(2)household registrations outside Chiayi County、Chiayi City ,Holders of Disabled Cards. Must ride with a guardian or a partner.
(3) Holders of Disabled Cards. Must ride with a guardian or a partner.
(4) Children below 12 years old at height of 115cm and below 150cm can purchase half tickets with valid IDs.
(1)For senior citizens at or over 65 years old with household registration in Chiay County, holders of honor bus pass, or people with disability card, they can ride on buses for free with valid identifications.
(2)Children at the height of 115cm or below or children below 6 years old but at the height above 115cm are allowed to ride on the buses free with valid IDs. They are allowed to occupy seats. But they must be accompanied by adults with valid tickets. Each adults with valid ticket are allowed to take two children that are eligible to ride on the buses free. All children exceeding the requirements must purchase half tickets.

Guidelines for carrying pets on the bus:
1. You need to pay half fare for each pet carried on the bus. But they should not take any seat.
2. Passengers refusing to cooperate with the staffs’ advice, in case of the following, may be refused to ride on the bus. The unused tickets can be refunded in full:
(1) Suffering from serious diseases.
(2) Not carried in cages, baskets, or nets.
(3) Unclean or prone to damage other people and things.
(4) Harmful to public hygiene and other passengers; aggressive and dangerous animals.
(5) Not suitable to be carried on buses.
3. Passengers should carry their pets in cages, baskets, or nets. Each passenger is allowed to carry one pet, not exceeding the dimensions of 27cm3 (average length of 30cm on each side).
4. When carry pets, passengers should place them beside and take good care of them. They are not allowed to put on seats, luggage racks, or aisle. The cages, baskets, or nets carrying the pets should be closed or fastened tightly and wrapped up with waterproof cloth for hygiene reasons. If any passengers violate the rules and refuse to cooperate with the staff, they may be forced to leave the vehicle. The tickets will be suspended.
5. Guide dogs must be allowed on the buses to safeguard the rights of the people with visual impairment. All guide dogs can ride on the buses for free. As most guide dogs are huge, they are suggested to sit by the doors.

Alishan Route goes to the spectacular Alishan Scenic Area. Its diverse scenes and landscapes are gorgeous. The sunrise view, sea of clouds, dusk scene, the Sacred Tree, and the Alishan Rail are called as the “five wonders of Alishan.” The most popular scenes are the sunrise and cloud sea. Visitors pack to enjoy these views. The thousand year old Chinese juniper cluster are the densest woods in Taiwan. No wonder people regard it as the most special and most popular scenic area in Taiwan.

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area

  Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is located in Alishan Township, Chiayi, covering an area of 1400 hectares with the main tourism spot locating at about 2,200 meters high above sea level. It is cloudy mid-elevation temperate climate with an average annual temperature 10.6 ℃ and the annual rainfall is up to 4,000 mm. There are 209 raining days and 244foggy days on average. The heavily wet weather contribute the outstanding forest and climate landscape such as Alishan sunrise, sea of clouds, afterglow, forest, railways which count to the five famous sightseeing spots known internationally.

Chiayi Hakka Museum

  "Chiayi Hakka Museum"(嘉義縣客家文化會館) presents static Hakka cultural relics exhibition, dynamic experiences (Hakka culture DIY, Hakka gift DIY), collections narration, provision of touring information, so as to allow the public to get to know Hakka culture through relevant activities.

Longding Trail

  The sunset viewing platform at Longding Trail (巃頂步道) will give you a broad vision, which is by no means inferior to Zhushan (祝山). And you only need to climb halfway, because that is where you can see the sunrise, yet with the time only lagging a few seconds behind Zhushan Mountain. Longding Walkway is a 700m long entertainment walkway that will take you 40 minutes to go to and fro. The ecology is dominated by Moso bamboo forests (孟宗竹林), the birds and cicada chirping are heavenly music, and there are three wood-structured pavilions along the way, which allow you to enjoy the sights. Especially at the highest point at the entrance, the vision is broad, so you can have a panoramic view of all mountains, as well as the sunrise and waterfalls, hence turning out to be an optimal choice for lovers and families.

Wu Feng Temple

  Wu fong Temple (吳鳳廟), also called “Alishan Jhong Wang Temple” (阿裏山忠王祠), was built in the late period during the reign of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (AD. 1820). The exterior wall of Wufeng Temple is primed with deep red, with gable and hip roof and swallow tail ridge. After several times of renovation, it has become a level 3 ancient relic of Taiwan now. There are old trees and ancient tablets at the front square and flanking yard of the temple, presenting an elegant and tranquil environment.

Zhulu Settlement

  Zhulu (逐鹿), “veoveoana” in the dialect of Tsou tribe (鄒), refers to the game field for sika deer, where Zou ethnicity hunted for sika deer in early times but now it is a resting place for primitive residents in migration. The Zhulu tribe boasts excellent craftsmanship, agricultural specialty, special drink and food, dancing and singing performance.

Niupuzai Recreation Area

  The decorative art of the Park takes “love” and “Ali Mountain” as creation theme. The red and white artworks are very attractive in the green grassland to tourists who will stop for pictures and rest, hence becoming a sacred land for wedding photography, and getting its nickname “No 18 Love Silk Road”.

Longmei Trail

  It is located at around 47.5K along Ali Mountain Highway. The circular walkway starts from the platform made of granite bricks and follows short climbing trestle to reach the forest shower (森林浴) in fir forests. Tung tree flowers are a specialty to this walkway, because on it one can see pure white Tung tree flowers accompanied by natural wood color; embellished by the fir forest and natural color, it will completely refresh you.

Eryanping Trial

  Eryanping Trial(二延平山步道) gives you an aerial view of Chianan Plain (嘉南平原) and reservoir, Yushan peak (玉山主峰) and sub-peaks at south and north as well as the vitality of sunrise. At night without light and cloud, you will see a skyful of stars and look down upon the Jianan Plains enlightened by thousands of household light. The shining shattered diamonds on earth and in heaven are just the natural treasures sent down to here by God.

Shizhuo Trails: Cherry Trail, Mist Trail, Cloud Trail, Sunset Trail, Tea Trail

  Shizhuo trail (石棹步道) has five ways with beautiful scenery and easing slope at an altitude of 1000m. Even walking fast on the walkway will not sweat you, so it attracts a lot of tourists. “Alishan Zhu-lu Tea” (阿裏山珠露茶), as one of the ten famous Taiwan teas, is mainly produced here as the representative of mountain teas. In recent years the residences developed on the basis of tea garden, mountain forest, sunrise, cloud sea and sunset have become a hot spot for tourists.


  Erwanping (二萬平) possesses a totally different kind of mountain forest tranquility from Ali Mountain forest entertainment areas. It is an optimal place for appreciating the sunset and cloud sea at Tashan Mountain. Given that clouds normally come into form at an altitude of 1800m during autumn and winter, Erwanping at an altitude of 2000m is in fine weather and favorable geographical position. And the optimal vision comes from the rails at the Erwanping station.

Eternity Suspension Bridges

  Chukou (觸口) “Tianchang Dijiu” (Everlasting as heaven and earth) is surrounded by mountains at all directions. The Tianchang, Dijiu, and Lovers suspension bridge spanning over Bazhang River (八掌溪) create the romantic atmosphere for this place. The “Longyin Temple” (龍隱寺) built in 1980 also serves as an important religious spot in entering into Ali Mountain.

Alishan Forest Railway- Shizilu Station

Shizilu Station is an intermediate terminal of the railway heading to Alishan National Scenic Area. The service was terminated due to Typhoon Morakot, but restored in Sep., 2017. Shizilu Village used to be a traffic hub for a long time, for tribes like Laiji, Dabang and Tefuye relied on it for materials and goods transportation. The place is where the railway and highway meet, hence getting the name “Shizilu (Crossway)”.
